Invitation to become the Supervisor of “Hong Kong Scholars Program”
Mainland -Hong Kong Joint Postdoctoral Fellows Program
The “Hong Kong Scholars Program” (hereinafter referred to as the program) is jointly launched by the Society of Hong Kong Scholars and the China National Postdoctoral Council under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre are respectively as the Executive Organizations for the program. The Program aims at effectively pooling talent and research resource of Hong Kong and the Mainland to train outstanding postdoctoral fellows.
The Program has got the enthusiastic responses from the academics of Hong Kong/Mainland universities and research institutes since announced in December, 2010. Over 600 outstanding Mainland PhD graduates have been subsidized under the Program during the past eleven years. A new contract was signed by the two hosts on 8th December, 2021. Same as in previous years, the stipends of “Hong Kong Scholars” from the Mainland will be equally shared between the Mainland Government and the Hong Kong Supervisors, using their respective funding. For each Hong Kong Scholar, the Mainland Government will still pay RMB 15,000 per month but the monthly stipend in Hong Kong will change from HK$15,000 to RMB 15,000 for some living cost adjustment. This means supervisors of Hong Kong need to pay HK$ 18,300 monthly (equivalent to half pay of a regular appointment) to hire a high-quality postdoctoral fellow.
For this new round, the application date for Hong Kong Supervisors of “Hong Kong Scholars Program” is from 9th December, 2021 to 21 st January, 2022. The success of the “Hong Kong Scholars Program” hinges upon the participation from academics in Hong Kong. We sincerely invite you to join the program as the supervisor.
